Many of us have an historical hang-up about the internet failing but, for the majority of us, the internet is as reliable as our phone lines, more so if you have fibre
Your VoIP service will need a solid internet connection but not necessarily fast, even a normal ADSL line will cope with the needs of a small business. If you can only get ADSL then you would be wise to dedicate a connection to VoIP, but a superfast connection should handle both data and VoIP together.
If you are having new numbers or extra lines the phones will work out of the box, you just plug them in. If you are porting your numbers you will be told when it will happen. We set up your new phones with your existing numbers and deliver them to you, then at the time of the switch, your old phone stops ringing and your new one starts.
You pay for your phones upfront and your service contract monthly. We send you an online direct debit form and we invoice you for your subscription in advance and your calls retrospectively. We take the payment 14 days after issue.
To get your phones working it takes about as long as it takes to plug all of your handsets into internet connections! But that is a little flippant, if you want your phones to do things, like have multiple handsets ringing at the same time, or ring lines in order if they aren’t answered, or get them to do different things at different times of the day (time based routing) then of course there is some configuration. You have a web portal and you can log in and set up the rules, it’s not hard and we will help you until you get the hang of it.
We treat our customers how we want to be treated and we want you to get the most out of your system. When you are buying from us we will make sure you get the right handsets for your needs, not the most expensive, and the right number of connections. We will configure the phones for you before you get them so that they work right out of the box and we will help you set up your web portal if you need it. After that you can phone us or e-mail us with any questions at all.
Upstream VoIP is a managed service and, in order for us to manage the service, we would prefer that you buy the phones through us. We can then pre-configure them for you and know that they will be 100% compatible with the service. You can rest assured that our range of phones is competitively priced.
If you have an existing investment in VoIP phones then it is likely that they can be reconfigured to use with Upstream, just ask.
Of course we hope that you won’t cancel but if you do decide to leave us you are only committed to the month you are in.
